Results for the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon – 10.4.16

This marathon is sold as the UK’s “Flattest, Fastest and Friendliest Marathon” and has been awarded the official title of UK’s Best Marathon for 2 years running.  3 Massey runners took on this challenge which started and finished at the Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground.  The first 5 miles of the route looped around Salford Quays and then headed out towards Sale & Altrincham, at 13 miles the runners ran back along the same route and at 17 miles headed out toward Urmaston and looped back towards the cricket ground.

Great running from the Massey’s 3, with PB’s for Jamie & Natalie, and a first marathon for Lisa !

Results for the Vienna Marathon – 10.4.16

Nicky Ellis took on this Austrian marathon which took runners through Vienna’s modern & historic sights.  The route started at the site of the United Nations and went over the Imperial Bridge which spans the River Danube, runners then went past the Riesenrad (Giant ferris wheel), through Prater Park and past the Opera house, through the River Valley to reach Schonbrunn Castle.  One the way back the route went past museums, the Town Hall, the Burg Theatre and the University finishing at Rathausplatz.

Unfortunately Nicky who was injured before starting the race didn’t complete the full marathon, but struggled through the first 13.1 miles and completed the half-marathon distance.


Results for the Plusnet Yorkshire Half Marathon – 10.4.16

New member Simon took part in this half-marathon in Sheffield, the route had a city centre start and finish, and boasted a scenic route with stunning views of the Peak District.  Between miles 4 & 5 there was a tough climb to Ringinglow, but gave runners a timed hill climb to become “King or Queen of the Hill”
